I began exploring cold storage solutions when I founded Better Paws Raw, a raw pet food distribution company. In the early stages, my priority was keeping costs as low as possible. However, I quickly discovered that no cold storage facilities were willing to house food intended for pets. Faced with this challenge, I started out with chest freezers in my garage, which allowed me to store about half a pallet of inventory.

As demand grew, we soon needed more space and were able to invest in our first walk-in freezer, which supported a full pallet of product. Today, as Better Paws continues to expand, the need for a dedicated cold storage facility has become even greater. Yet even now, there are still no viable options available for pet food businesses.

That’s why I want to change this. My goal is to create a cold storage facility designed specifically for the fresh pet food industry—one that helps manufacturers and distributors optimize costs while supporting the growth of this rapidly expanding market.
